Optimizing the OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA for Audio Sync with Video using Windows PC, firmware version 5.1.6

In order to optimize your OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA for synced video playback, you will need to download, install, and run the OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA Firmware Update Tool on your Windows PC or laptop.

Please note: If you have paired two OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA speakers in OontZ Wireless Dual Stereo then be sure to update both speakers with this firmware.  After updating to firmware version 5.1.6 both speakers will have independent volume control in Wireless Dual Stereo.

Before you begin, be sure to have the following items ready:

  • OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA speaker - with power turned OFF
  • the Micro USB Charging Cable that came with the speaker
  • the 3.5mm Audio Cable that came with the speaker

Part 1 : Download the OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA Firmware Update Tool

Step 1.1 : Click here to go to the download page for the ZIP file 'Angle-3-ULTRA-PC.zip'.  Click 'Download Now' after the page loads:

Step 1.2 : Save the zipped file, which contains all the necessary files for the firmware update, to your hard drive.  We recommend saving to your 'Downloads' folder so it will be easy to locate and use.

Step 1.3 : Using File Explorer navigate to the zipped file 'Angle-3-ULTRA-PC.zip', it will be in the folder where you saved the download in the previous step, 1.2. 

Note: If you do not see the '.zip' in the file name you can go to the 'View' tab and check the box for 'File name extensions'

 

Right-click on the file 'Angle-3-ULTRA-PC.zipand select 'Extract All'. 

Step 1.4 : If the following screen appears, check the box 'Show extracted files when complete', then click the 'Extract' button and the unzipped folder will become available in the folder alongside the original downloaded zipped file.

Note: If the following screen does not appear, continue by extracting to the default folder recommended or in the case of some WinZip programs utilize the "unzip here..." option.


Part 2 : Installing the OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA Firmware Update Tool

Step 2.1 : With the box 'Show extracted files when complete" checked in the previous screen, the folder 'Angle-3-ULTRA-PC' should have automatically opened in the File Explorer when you clicked 'Extract'.    Double-click the file named 'setup.exe'.

Note:  If the folder 'Angle-3-ULTRA-PC' did not automatically open in the File Explorer when you clicked 'Extract', using File Explorer double click the folder 'Angle-3-ULTRA-PC'.  It will be in the same folder location where you downloaded the original zip file.  After double clicking the ‘Angle-3-ULTRA-PC’ folder, double-click the file named 'setup.exe'.

Step 2.2 : After double-clicking 'setup.exe' a dialog box will appear asking you to allow the app to run.  Click 'Yes'.

Step 2.3: The welcome dialog box for the OontZ Product Tool Setup Wizard will appear. Click 'Next'.

Step 2.4 : The default installation folder will automatically appear in the 'Folder:' text area.  Click 'Next'.

 

Step 2.5 : Click 'Next' to start the installation.

 

Step 2.6 : When you see the 'Installation Complete' screen, click 'Close' to exit.

 



Part 3 : Running the OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA Firmware Update Tool

Step 3.1 :  The OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA Firmware Update Tool will automatically launch after clicking “close” in the previous step and the instructions for connecting your speaker to your PC in the proper sequence will appear in the  Update Tool.  Please proceed to Step 3.2 to follow along with the instructions.

 

Step 3.2 : Now using the Micro USB Charging Cable that came with your speaker, please insert the large end into the USB port on your PC or laptop.

Step 3.3 : Make sure your OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA is powered OFF.  We recommend you stand the speaker up on end for the following steps.

Step 3.4 :  Press and hold down the Volume Up + button on the OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA.    While holding down the Volume Up + button, insert the small end of the Micro USB cable into the Micro USB charging connector on the speaker.   Release the Volume Up + button once the Micro USB cable has been inserted into the Micro USB charging connector on the speaker.

Step 3.5 :  The OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA Firmware Update Tool will sound a chime through your PC and an empty progress bar will appear in the Update Tool as shown below in the red circle, indicating the firmware update is ready to proceed.  Click the download button (blue down arrow) in the bottom right corner to complete the optimization.

Step 3.6 : Once the progress bar reaches 100% and displays 'Successful' your update is complete.

Step 3.7 : Unplug the Micro USB cable between your speaker and your PC.

Part 4 : Confirm Firmware Updated to Version 5.1.6

Step 4.1 : Power on your OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA

Step 4.2 : Insert the 3.5mm audio cable into the AUX IN Jack, the Bluetooth Light will turn green and you will hear the voice prompt: “AUX IN Source

Note: In the following step, once the firmware confirmation begins, the lights on the OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA should illuminate in the following sequence:

  • Green light will be solid
  • Red light will flash 5 times, then
  • Orange light will flash 1 time, then
  • Green light will turn off
  • Blue light will flash 6 times
  • Green light will turn back on and remain solid

Be sure not to cover the lights while pressing the bluetooth button or you will not be able to see the light sequence.  

Step 4.3 : To begin the firmware confirmation, press and hold down the bluetooth button for about 5 seconds until the red light begins flashing.    Release the bluetooth button.    The red light will flash 5 times, then the orange light will flash one time, the green light will turn off and then the blue light will flash 6 times.  The green light will turn back on.   This light sequence confirms the firmware upgrade to Version 5.1.6 was successful.
