Optimizing the OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA for Audio Sync with Video using Windows PC, firmware version 1.1.1

In order to optimize your OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA for synced video playback, you will need to download, install, and run the Product Tool on your Windows PC or laptop.

Please note: If you have paired two OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA speakers in OontZ Wireless Dual Stereo then be sure to update both speakers with this firmware.  After updating to firmware version 1.1.1 both speakers will have independent volume control in Wireless Dual Stereo.

Before you begin, be sure to have the following items ready:

  • OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA speaker - with power turned OFF
  • the Micro USB Charging Cable that came with the speaker
  • the 3.5mm Audio Cable that came with the speaker

Part 1 : Download the firmware and Product Tool setup files

Step 1.1 : Click here to go to the download page for the ZIP file 'Angle-3-ULTRA-PC.zip'.  Click 'Download Now' after the page loads:

Step 1.2 : Save the zipped file, which contains all the necessary files for the firmware update, to your hard drive.  We recommend saving to your 'Downloads' folder so it will be easy to locate and use.

Step 1.3 : Navigate to the zipped file 'Angle-3-ULTRA-PC.zip' in your 'Downloads' folder using the File Explorer.

Note: If you do not see the '.zip' in the file name you can go to the 'View' tab and check the box for 'File name extensions'

 

Right-click on the file 'Angle-3-ULTRA-PC.zipand select 'Extract All'. 

Step 1.4 : On the following screen, check the box 'Show extracted files when complete', then click the 'Extract' button and the unzipped folder will become available in the 'Downloads' folder alongside the original zipped file


Part 2 : Installing the Product Tool

Step 2.1 : With the box 'Show extracted files when complete" checked in the previous screen, the folder 'Angle-3-ULTRA-PC' should have automatically opened in the File Explorer when you clicked 'Extract'.    Double-click the file named 'setup.exe'.

Step 2.3 : A dialog box will appear asking you to allow the app to run.  Click 'Yes'.

Step 2.4: The welcome dialog box for the OontZ Product Tool Setup Wizard will appear. Click 'Next'.

Step 2.5 : The default installation folder will automatically appear in the 'Folder:' text area.  Click 'Next'.

 

Step 2.6 : Click 'Next' to start the installation.

 

Step 2.7 : When you see the 'Installation Complete' screen, click 'Close' to exit.

 



Part 3 : Running the Product Tool

We recommend narrowing and moving your browser window with this instruction page to one side of your screen in order to follow along while running the Product Tool

Step 3.1 : Click the 'Start' button on the bottom left corner of Windows 

Windows 7: Windows 10:

Click on 'Product Tool' under 'OontZ' in the menu

Type 'Product Tool' in the Search Bar

Click on 'Product Tool' in the search results 

Step 3.2 : A dialog box will appear asking you to allow the app to run.  Click 'Yes'.

Step 3.3 :  The Product Tool will launch with the file explorer window on top, with the file 'Firmware-v1.1.1.FW' as seen below.   If the file is not shown you will need to navigate to where you unzipped the download file earlier:   This PC > Downloads > Angle-3-ULTRA-PC > Firmware-v1.1.1.FW

Step 3.4 :  Select the file  'Firmware-v1.1.1.FW' and click 'Open'.

Step 3.5 : The 'Replace Firmware' dialog box will appear.   Click 'Open'.

Step 3.6 : The instructions for connecting your speaker to your PC in the proper sequence will appear in the Product Tool.    Please proceed to Step 3.7 to follow along with the instructions.

 

Step 3.7 : Now using the Micro USB Charging Cable that came with your speaker, please insert the large end into the USB port on your PC or laptop.

Step 3.8 : Make sure your OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA is powered OFF.  We recommend you stand the speaker up on end for the following steps.

Step 3.9 :  Press and hold down the Volume Up + button on the OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA.    While holding down the Volume Up + button, insert the small end of the Micro USB cable into the Micro USB charging connector on the speaker.   Release the Volume Up + button once the Micro USB cable has been inserted into the Micro USB charging connector on the speaker.

Step 3.10 :  The Product Tool will sound a chime through your PC and an empty progress bar will appear in the Product Tool, indicating the firmware update is ready to proceed.  Click the download button (down arrow) to complete the optimization.

Step 3.11 : Once the progress bar reaches 100% and displays 'Successful' your update is complete.

Step 3.12 : Unplug the Micro USB cable between your speaker and your PC.

Part 4 : Confirm Firmware Updated to Version 1.1.1

Step 4.1 : Power on your OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA

Step 4.2 : Insert the 3.5mm audio cable into the AUX IN Jack, the Bluetooth Light will turn green and you will hear the voice prompt: “AUX IN Source

Note: In the following step, once the firmware confirmation begins, the lights on the OontZ Angle 3 ULTRA should illuminate in the following sequence:

  • Green light will be solid
  • Red light will flash 1 time, then
  • Orange light will flash 1 time, then
  • Green light will turn off
  • Blue light will flash 1 time
  • Green light will turn back on and remain solid

Be sure not to cover the lights while pressing the bluetooth button or you will not be able to see the light sequence.  

Step 4.3 : To begin the firmware confirmation, press and hold down the bluetooth button for about 5 seconds until the red light flashes once.    Release the bluetooth button.    The orange light will flash one time, the green light will turn off and then the blue light will flash one time.  The green light will turn back on.   This light sequence confirms the firmware upgrade to Version 1.1.1 was successful.
